She's mostly right-brained, knows how to dissect a certain something with groans and neck tilts to make it art. Sometimes I catch her sucking her nude belly back past her ribs, turning sideways with a twisted face and thinking, 'is this prettier?'.
She says a prayer every night but she has no idea who's taking note. She's more superstitious than religious. Every night before bed she chips an inch of ivory paint off her bed head and makes sure to clap twice before it touches the cold tiles. She believes silly routines like that keep her alive.
She's awkward
FoldedShe spends most of her days folded over the telephone stool, keeping the receiver just a hot second away from her jerky fingers. She clicks the phone directory, G to H to I. Sometimes she stops at a random number and dials it up, breaths deep down the line and pops her lips until all she hears is 'beep, beep, beep'.Folded
If anyone cared to ask, she'd tell them all she wants for Christmas is a cordless phone and maybe the Internet. She'd tuck the receiver into the breast pocket of her corduroy overalls, sign up for a MySpace account and wallpaper her profile with a picture of a kitten in a glass of milk.
